Their name in it. The animal they sleep holding. The hard thing they kept trying until it was theirs. Said back to them, in the dark, in a voice that is telling the truth.
Listen — the full meditation, nothing held back
How this started
I wrote a bedtime meditation for my son. Not a general one — his. His name is in it. His bicycle is in it. Joca is in it. I recorded it in my own voice, and we played it at bedtime.
I thought it was for him. It wasn't only for him. His father and I sat in the dark and listened to our own child being described to himself — steady, capable, held — and it reached all three of us. He fell asleep. We stayed a while longer.
Then other parents learned about it, and asked whether I would write one for their child. So now I do.
What it is
A bedtime meditation written and recorded for your child and no one else. Ten to fifteen minutes, in my voice. It is never sold twice, never adapted for another family, never added to a library.
It is woven out of their own world — the name you use when the light goes off, the thing they sleep holding, the bicycle they finally caught, the sister in the next bed, the arms they fall asleep inside. Nothing generic. Nothing that could be about any other child.
Before I write a word I ask you a great many questions, and I read every answer. That part matters more than anything I do afterwards.
What arrives
- The recordingTen to fifteen minutes, in my voice, yours to keep and to play as many nights as they ask for it.
- The wordsThe full meditation as a typeset booklet, made to be beautiful on paper — for the nights when they'd rather the voice were yours.
- One round of changesIf a detail is wrong, or a word doesn't sound like your family, tell me and I'll set it right.

Each child
Their own
I am a writer and a mother, not a clinician. This is a bedtime experience, not treatment, and I won't tell you what it will do to your child's sleep — I don't know, and anyone who says otherwise is guessing. What I can tell you is that it will be theirs, that it will be true, and that it will be made with care.
